Jon Stewart v. Fox News: Constitutional hypocrisy

"An ex-Muslim is a very dangerous thing… Some have said that’s President Obama."
Fox host Andrea Tantaros brings back the long debunked myth, still very beloved by the conservative echo chamber, that President Obama was a Muslim.  (via mediamattersforamerica)

So, I just wanted to say something about the Saudi guy being tackled at the marathon, who turned out to just be an innocent bystander. I do not think this was racist. Foreign terrorists are more common than not Muslims. That is not racist. It is a fact. No, all Muslims are not terrorists. But, wouldn't you rather the guy who was tackled to have some hurt feelings than a terrorist get away? People seriously need to put things in perspective. People died. A Saudi guy got tackled. Safe than sorry.

I… I, okay.

That’s really nice that you don’t think racial profiling is racist. A few clarifying questions about your perspective though: (1) why would you assume that a non-white person is foreign? (2) why you would assume that a non-white person is Muslim? (3) THE DUDE RAN AWAY FROM A BOMB EXPLOSION. LIKE A NORMAL HUMAN BEING (minus the superhero humans who ran towards it, heroes).

Hahaha hurt feelings. Really? You think that the result of a racist guy tackling an injured person of color resulting in him being questioned, guarded at the hospital, and the subject of a media frenzy that put every non-white person in this country on serious and justifiable edge about their safety gets chalked up to hurt feelings? Racial profiling leads to a hell of a lot more than “hurt feelings,” and I’m sure every person of color who has been unjustifiably arrested, shot, or killed by the police for walking while black or brown or, let’s just face it, not fulfilling the narratives of our oh-so-sacred whiteness has something to say to you about hurt feelings.

You can cherry pick your “facts” all you want if it makes you feel better about treating people of color like threats to national security. We should put this in perspective because people died? You know what kills people in this country? Our broken healthcare system. Gun violence. Factories and plants that go unregulated, explode, and kill an extraordinary number of people. Do you think anyone tackled and citizen-arrested the people responsible for the explosion in West, Texas? No? Yeah, me either. Do you know their names? Me either. What about the guy who shot and killed six Sikhs during worship in Wisconsin? Do you know his name? Theirs? No. He’s good old American white, they weren’t. No 48 hours news cycle, then.

This is some racist privileged bullshit. Your perspective sucks. Not sorry.

Also why are you following this blog that seems like bad fit..
